What to do after try-outs

Thank you for registering your player for try-outs for the 2017 – 2018 season with the Cobras! We are a competitive club that focuses on player development. We are proud of building character on and off the field. If you are new to the club or it’s difficult to recall what you did last year after your player got an offer, please read the following information.

Your player’s head coach or team manager will email you an offer letter. Once you have this offer letter and would like to accept it you need to do a few things within 48 hours.

1.    You will need to log-into the club site. Use the same email and passcode for your account when you registered to try-out. This time you’ll select ‘register for 2017-2018 season’.

2.    Select the right age group and gender and finally coach who sent you the offer.

3.    Select a uniform size. This is initially used for the remaining training shirt and there will be an opportunity to try on uniforms before you have to select or confirm sizing for your players uniform size.

4.    Please read and check Code of Conduct.

5.    Make the $100 deposit online towards the club registration of $475. $200 will need to be paid by the end of September, 2017 and the remaining balance of $175 will need to be paid by the end of November, 2017. *Each team sets their own team budget for tournament fees, team equipment, additional indoor field time. The amounts vary for each team and are paid directly to the team treasurer.

6.    Failure to commit within 48 hours will result in a follow-up attempt by the head coach or team manager. The roster spot will be passed on to another player after an unsuccessful 2nd attempt to contact original player. Original player will be removed from roster consideration.

FAQ’S ABOUT TRY-OUTS

When will my player be notified about an offer or not?

It is up to each coach to reach out to families the week following try-outs. All offers should be out to players by August 7th

What happens if my player can’t make try-outs?

There is an inherent risk in missing a tryout and that needs to be understood by the individuals and parents of those missing the tryouts. However, some coaches may have roster spots open after try-outs and after the mandatory notification window has closed. If your player is evaluated outside of try-outs and is offered a roster spot, you will need to accept within 48 hours and make the $100 deposit. If it is after the due dates for the club registrations (after November 30, 2017), your family will have 30 days after the deposit to pay the remaining balance in order to keep your player’s roster spot. If you are late with payment, there will be a $50 fee and your player may not receive their uniform or player pass to play.

What is the max roster size?

You can reference RDYSL rules for roster sizes, but it is ultimately up to the coach on the number of players to carry on a roster.

How many players can play up an age group per team?

Any new team to Cobras must follow the US Soccer age matrix. Teams that were a part of the club for the 2016 – 2017 season were allowed to keep their team together regardless of age. As a rule of thumb for these teams and any new teams; there can be no more than 2 players playing 1 year up on a team.

What is the 2018 Season Age Matrix?

  • U08 - players born in 2010
  • U09 - players born in 2009
  • U10 - players born in 2008
  • U11 - players born in 2007
  • U12 - players born in 2006
  • U13 - players born in 2005
  • U14 - players born in 2004
  • U15 - players born in 2003
  • U16 - players born in 2002
  • U17 - players born in 2001
  • U19 - players born in 1999 or 2000

Why is there a required deposit within 48 hours?

It helps confirm actual rosters which affect everything: uniform needs, indoor space needed, registration and insurance costs, etc. With the changes to the age matrix we unfortunately had teams fold last year after try-outs because we were unable to confirm player and families interest after try-outs.

Can I pay my club registration fee in installments?

Yes! $100 deposit is due with the acceptance of player’s offer to their team. This is paid online via credit card on the club site. $200 needs to be paid by the end of September, 2017 or a $25 late fee will be applied to your account. The remaining balance of $175 (plus any accrued late fee) must be paid by the end of November, 2017 or an additional late fee of $25 will be applied. Failure to pay your club registration fee in its entirety by December 3rd will result in your player being unable to participate in indoor sessions or receive their uniform.

Is there financial assistance available?

There are limited number of one time scholarships available through the club. Please see your coach or team manager to complete the request. All families applying for financial assistance will need to still pay the $100 deposit. The balance if not completely covered by financial aide will still need to be paid by the end of November, 2017.

What happens if my player joins the club during the 2018 calendar year?

Your family will need to accept within 48 hours and make the $100 deposit. Your family will have 30 days after the deposit to pay the remaining balance in order to keep your player’s roster spot. If you are late with payment, there will be a $50 fee and your player may not receive their uniform or player pass to play.

What additional fees can I expect?

Each team sets a budget that is approved by the club. Most teams fundraise or ask families to make installment payments for these types of items: tournaments, team activities, indoor leagues, extra sessions with Director of Coaching, goal keeper sessions, team events and team equipment.

Why did the club registration fee increase since last 2016 – 2017 season?

Our club was founded based on the mission to develop soccer players on and off the field. Player development on the field takes lots of opportunities to train as a team and foot skills. Our club registration fees are augmented based on revenue from our club’s annual tournament.

Did you know, the club spends more on each player than they collect from registration fees? The Club covers roughly $100 per player each year to ensure a competitive player development program.

We continuously ask our families and coaches for feedback on our programs and the last few years the request for more indoor sessions has been top of their list. For the 2017- 2018 season the club has increased the number of indoor training sessions each travel team will receive. The club is also including that each team will receive team academy sessions with our Director of Coaching or a member of his staff.
